I think some things float because it is light. Maybe it floats because it maybe hollow. The temperature may effect it to. The object may also have a hole in it.I think some things sink because of the weight. Also I think it will float because it may be a solid and no holes or it being hollow.
While some float because some of them are heavy while the another one is not heavy.
some objects my sink beacuse there are they are heavy and also beacuse there mettle. some things float beacuse they are light and they might be hallow maybe they have holes.
Some things float and some things sink because like the large wood would float because the water makes it float.A bike would sink because it is heavy. Turtles float,large rocks sink.

I used to think think it was about the weight but then I went to river I saw a log floating on the river's surface so then I realized that it was about what it was made of. Al tho the big polyethylene floated it was the forth heaviest my hypothesis was wrong on that one.
MY Hypothesis is Did the items float or sink. Some of the items floated because some were light and the others sank because they might be heavy or they could have a hole.My logical reason is they were heavy and light.

I think some of the marbles will sink the clay and if the clay will hold 15 marbles and if 16 marbles I think it will sink.
I think that things with air will float while things that are heavy with no air sink.If u put a floaty in water and push it down it will come back up but with no air it will stay and sink.
It will sink if we put marbles in it won,t hold that a lot of marbles because it not way a lot .
After observing the objects float or sink,I got all right my hypothesis except two question .I thought that the was going to float but it sink . I thought that the fishing boll was going to sink but it was floating .

i think a foam cup will float because it is very light.i think my boots will sink.....because they are very heavy!

When I was observing the objects that floated were light and the things that sinked were heavy.When I saw the medal stuff sink it didn't float because it was heavy but,cans float and it is made out of medal and it float because it is light.

Has anyone tried to weigh the water vs. the weight of the object that you are trying to float? Most barges are built of steel but they float. I wonder how much surface area this takes? That makes me think displacement. hummm... You kids better play ball next spring!!!
