Why Don't the Numbers Add Up?

This graphic is taken from the Fayette County Groundwater Conservation District

The video The Case of the Mysterious Neighbor by the Missouri Botanical Garden says only one-tenth of one percent is usable water. The above graphic says three-tenths of one percent is usable. Why is there such a big difference?

Here is a link to some more interesting information about water from The York Children's Water Festival.

There is such a big difference because the water is mostly ground and ocean water or water in the air.

the numbers don't add up because the water keeps on moving and going to a place to another.

She was representing it in 1000 M&M's so their number may have been different to show the right answer.

Its a big difference because the three-tenths is underground and the one-tenth is lakes, streams. The earth has a lot of water.

we think that there is such a big difference because 0.3% of the water is unusable by humans. All of the other % of Earth's water has bacteria .
