What Are the Effects of Erosion?

This is the video that I created for our demonstration of erosion. After our class discussion, comment on why the humus and clay seemed to erode more than the sand and the gravel. You may want to look at the model again.

we think that the humus and the clay floated down because they
were lighter and the sand and grav

THE WATER TRAVELED IN TWO DIRECTIONS.ONE SIDE WAS FASTER THAN THE OTHER SIDE.THEN MR.C PORED LITTLE BIT MORE WATER AND THE OTHER SIDE GREW FASTER.THEN THEY WENT THE SAME SPEED.

The reason the clay and humus eroded is because clay and humus can't soak up water fast but gravel and sand can.

We think the reason the humus and clay seemed to erode more than the sand and gravel is because they are lighter!!!!

After seeing the demonstration, we have concluded that the clay and humus eroded easier because they were in the lowest area and were the easiest to carry away. For example, the water was poured right on top of the humus and the water traveled along on the path the clay was on. We can see the path of the humus and clay by the carved spaces in the mixture of clay, gravel, humus and sand.

We think that humus & the clay seemed
to erode mere than the sand and the gravel because the water pushed the humus and the clay more than the gravel and the weighs more.

I think that the reason that the water separated was because of the pressure pushing against the dirt.

the reason why the humus and clay eroded faster than the sand and gravel is because it was lighter

We think that the humus and clay eroded because there was so much humus that it eroded. And the sand was where the water had been and it took the clay with it.And it created the erosion.

the humus and clay aren't as heavy as the gravel and sand.

Anonymous said...

We think that the humus and clay seemed to erode more than the sand and the gravel because it is heavier and thicker. We also think it because the water is to light and not strong enough to carry the sand and gravel. So this is what we think the erosion

I think the humus and clay eroded more then the sand and gravel because, when water ran over the sand the sand packed together and gravel was heavy enough to stop the packed sand if it happened to roll down. The sand in the model right now seem to be close together, not a lot of it was spread out. Some of the rocks were stuck in the ground. Thats why the humus and the clay eroded more than the sand and gravel.

We think that the sand got on the gravel. And that the sand made it heavier and it won't erode as much. It also got stuck on the wet soil so it didn't erode much.

Anonymous said...

The water made an erosion down the model. Also the water soaked down to the bottom and made ground water.

Anonymous said...

We think it is that way because it is really small and the other to weigh more than it.The others got stuck as they were going down the channel they carved.

Anonymous said...

We think that the humus and the clay seemed to erode more than the sand and the gravel because the the rocks were stuck on soil. And thats why that it did not erode.

Anonymous said...

The humus and clay eroded because there are much more heavier, and because they were was probably more of them.

Anonymous said...

The clay erosion's more then the soil because the clay is wettable and when the water hits it the clay gets soft.

The humes is light and it is problywases away really easy and that is why it eriosins more thn the other stff.

the humus and clay seemed to erode more than the sand and the gravel. The water has to be clean.

Anonymous said...

The clay and humus has eroded because of the water when it was poured. And the gravel stayed at the top because of the weight.

Anonymous said...

The water made an erosion in the model. It made groundwater in the model. The water made a pond in the model. The water made the soil go down stream. The water made two stream down the river. The groundwater evaporated to the air and made cracks on the model.

The humus and the clay eroded more than the sand and the gravel because the humus and clay are smaller and lighter.

Anonymous said...

We think that the gravel and sand washed down quicker because both are sediments and when we came to the conclusion we also thought more sand and gravel went down quicker on the left side because more water traveled down because it was so heavy on one side than the other.

Anonymous said...

We think the humus and the clay had a weight difference and the water that went faster soaked down first.

Anonymous said...

We think that the humus and clay eroded more because the sand was stuck on the bumpy gravel.

Anonymous said...

The effects of erosion is the clay and the humus because when the water came over the gravel packed together and took the clay .

When we saw the motel it looked like clay in the bottom of the fish tank.
We also saw the video of the water runing down all the dirt.Mr C is mixing dirt with water.

Anonymous said...

The humus and clay eroded faster is because the rocks were heavier and the sand mixed in with the dirt.

Anonymous said...

The reason why the humus and clay went down it is to lite.

Anonymous said...

The gravels weight was heavy so the gravel stayed in a pile.So the clay and the humus eroded and made a flat surface.

Anonymous said...

We think the reason the sand and clay was down hill because they were not as supported as the gravel and humus.

Anonymous said...

We think that the sand and the humus erode faster than the clay and the gravel. We said that because gravel just stays there and clay just hardens and stays there.

What a great project! What a great blog too! I have really enjoyed looking at what you have been doing in school. I am a Year 2 teacher (my kids are 6 and 7) in Manchester, UK. My class is just beginning to get up and running with blogging, and you have given me lots of ideas! Thank you for sharing your exciting work.

If you would like to see our blog, we would love to have some feedback as you are way ahead of us.

I think that the humus and clay floated away because they were lighter than the gravel and sand.So they got washed away easier.

Anonymous said...

I think that the humus and clay eroded more than the sand and gravel because the humus and clay have less weight than the sand and gravel.

Anonymous said...

I think that the humus and the clay is lighter than the sand and the gravel.

Anonymous said...

I think the sand and gravel were heavier than the humus and clay so with the pressure of the water, the humus and clay floated down.

Anonymous said...

I think the erosion happened because the humus and clay aren't as heavy as the gravel and sand because when water was added the humus and clay washed down and the sand and gravel stayed in the same place.

Anonymous said...

Humus and clay weren't as heavy as the other soils.

Anonymous said...

I think that the humus and clay floated away because they were lighter than the gravel and sand.So they got washed away easier.

Anonymous said...

I thank that humus & clay are litter then sand and gravel. And than it wood tack more time to erode the humus & clay. But the sand & gravel to erode. All the lite stuff will erode faster than all the heave stuff.

Anonymous said...

the reason why the humas and clay went down was because it was light.

The reason why was because it was light

The reason the humus and clay floated
down faster than the dirt, sand, and gravel was because they are lighter than the dirt, sand, and gravel.

Anonymous said...

The reason that the humus and clay eroded more then the sand and gravel is the humus and clay are lighter.

Anonymous said...

I think the humus and clay weren't as heavy as the gravel and sand because the water washed down the humus and clay.

Anonymous said...

i thank the clay and the gravel was a little dreiff becase the gravle wated more then the calyed wanted more.

Anonymous said...

I think that the clay floated down because it wear lighter

Anonymous said...

I think that the humus and clay eroded more than the sand and gravel because the sand and gravel was thicker and heavier than the humus and clay.It also may of had something to do with how strong or light the water is coming down.

Anonymous said...

I think the sand and gravel did not erode as much as the humus and clay because the rocks and sand are more heavy and thick.

Anonymous said...

I think the humus and clay eroded more then the gravel and sand because it is lighter than the water but the gravel and sand are heavier than the water the gravel and sand didn't eroded less.

Anonymous said...

I think that the humus and clay eroded more beacuse it weighed less than the gravel. Also the gravel probably was thicker.

Anonymous said...

I think it is because the water is to light and not strong enough to carry the sand and gravel and that is what I think happened.

Anonymous said...

I think that the humus and the clay eroded more than the sand and the gravel because it is lighter and because they weight less and the sand and gravel are heavier.I also think that the gravel is or is kind of rocks and that water can't carry
gravel or wash it.

Anonymous said...

I think that the sand and gravel are heavier and that the water is not strong enough to carry the sand and gravel. When you pour the water in the tank it cant carry the sand and gravel and it could carry the humus and clay because it soaks into the clay and humus.

Anonymous said...

The clay, and humus erode more then the sand, and gravel it was soft and it erode more than the sand and gravel the clay and the sand and gravel is heavier and thicker.

Anonymous said...

I think the humus and clay was lighter than the gravel and sand. That's the reason way I think the humus and clay more than the gravel and sand.

Anonymous said...

i think that the humus and the clay seemed to erode more than the sand and the gravel because the humus and the clay were lighter.the sand and the gravel was heavy.

Anonymous said...

The humus and the clay eroded more
because they were lighter than sand
and gavel.

Anonymous said...

I think that the humus and the clay went down faster because they were lighter than the gravel and the sand.

Anonymous said...

I think it's this way because the humus and clay are light enough for the water to carry them to the bottom. while the water wasn't strong or fast enough to take the gravel down the 2 paths

Anonymous said...

the humus and clay eroded faster because they were lighter

Anonymous said...

The reason the clay and the humus was carried down was because they are lighter than the gravel and sand.

The humus and clay eroded more than the sand and gravel because it is lighter.

The humus and clay eroded more because it is light.

Anonymous said...

I think humus and clay floated down because it was lighter.

Anonymous said...

I think the humus and clay eroded faster and more because the humus and clay was light for the water to carry to the bottom.

Anonymous said...

I think the humus and clay when down is, because is to light.

Anonymous said...

the sand and gravel are heavier than clay and humus.

Anonymous said...

I think the clay and hums floated down the stream because it was lighter than the gravel and sand.

Anonymous said...

the clay and hummus whet down because it is to lite.

Anonymous said...

I think that the clay and humus eroded more than the sand and gravel because humus and clay is smaller and lighter .

Anonymous said...

The humus and the clay were carried away is because the clay and humus are litter than the sand and the gravel.

Anonymous said...

i think the humus and the clay eroded more than the sand plus the gravel because probably the sand and gravel are to heavy and probably the humus and the clay are small and light.

Anonymous said...

The reason the humus and the clay is because they are both liter.

Anonymous said...

I think that the humus and the clay eroded more because the humus and clay was smaller and lighter

Anonymous said...

The model of the erosion declaid more than thehumus and clay because it was light.

Anonymous said...

The reason the humus and clay were liter.

Anonymous said...

the reason why clay and humus eroded is because water do pass through them (it do not observe water) but it sand and gravel water can pass through them( it observe water)
