30,000 Hits and Counting

Today my website collected its 30,000 hit. We had a small celebration and I bought a cake for the fifth grade to eat at lunch. I am really pleased with the response this blog has had.

Congratulations! That's is really cool how you had 30,000 hits! But when I first visited your site, I saw the amount of people on your clustr map and on the blog traffic. I looked at it and I was kind of expecting something like this to happen. Talk to you soon! Leeza

Congratulations Mr. C's class. My name is Beth and I am an elementary education student at the Univ. of Nevada - Las Vegas. I am currently taking a course on Prepping teachers to use technology in the classroom when I came across your class's blog. It is so well done, that I am sharing it with my class.

I have really loved being able to see all of the great work that you and your teacher are doing there. I hope that in a couple of years to have a class of my own where I can try some of the same activities and share them with other people through the class blog.

Congratulations again and keep up all of the great work.

@mrs.barrett, leeza, ms.rathgeber, and tiffanyx: Thanks for the great comments. Even though my class doesn't yet understand what it means to have this many people visit the blog, I do and I am very pleased.

Hello Mr. C's class. Congratulations on your amazing traffic count. It gives my students something to aim for.

I was not too sure where to address this but I wanted to answer your question about our school.

We are a private school in Shanghai that caters to the expatriate community that is currently living here. The student body is made up of international students living in China. Students are living there due to the nature of their parents careers. The parents have the intention of returning to their home country and want their child to receive an education that will allow them to continue once they return home. We have 2 campuses each with about 1600 students K-12. At the high school level we offer IB and AP course work. Our school does not have any local Chinese students although many may have Chinese heritage. Students generally return to their home countries during major holidays. Our class has students from: the USA, Italy, Russia, South Korea, Israel, Norway, and Canada.

30,000 visits is an unbelievable stat! Your blog has some fantastic work on it, a great variety of information and nice to see it presented in so many different ways. Nice to make a cake too! Decorations as well! Congratulations again!

@Mr. Howitt thanks for the information on your school. My students were not aware that it is a private school. I have had to dispel some misconceptions. I have many hispanic students and the only exposure to private schools have been in Mexico and Central America and apparently they have not been too good.

@Rick I am always excited to see other teachers look at my blog. It might be good to show some of my first posts when I started with using text only. There has been a progression in the quality and types of posts I have made over the last couple years. For example, this year I am creating much more video in the past, but I already have discovered that some things are still better done with pictures. I also hope to experiment more with audio this year as well.

@tamakitoday Thanks for the comment. I am really excited about following your blog as well. I was really surprised by how technologically advanced both Australia and New Zealand is when I first started finding so many hits on my own blog. Is this a teacher led initiative, or is there a real push by the government to make classrooms use more tech?

Hi! It's me again Leeza. Lately, I have got two comments asking do we eat bugs in China such as scorpions and spiders. Well people do eat those things in China, BUT most people in my school do not. The sell fried bugs in little villages, which most people don't go to. Recently, I went to Cambodia, a small country south of China. There was a small village we went to where they sold fried tarantulas. They would also show you how they fry them and there were tarantulas running around the place. It was quite something to see. Any more questions?? I would be glad to answer them at my blog. Talk to you soon!

Hi, it's once again me, Leeza. I saw on my blog you asked if I could tell you more about my school. Well, my school is as you probably already know called Shanghai American School(SAS for short). Everyone in the school speaks English, and we have people from all over the world coming here. I, myself am Russian American and I speak English, Russian, and pretty good Chinese. We also have very good specials teachers In music, art, PE, etc. We have grades from pre-k -12th and our two school campuses are MASSIVE. It is my second year here at SAS and I'm loving it. Usually people only stay temporarily because they have to move again and again, but some times people would stay here for a really long time. Talk to you soon!

Hi Mr C,
I have played the game Myst before!! When we play Myst we always write interesting sentences. We write to improve our writing. I've never played anything like it. We went to a new world the other day. It is so interesting watching and writing too.

I put Art and Science together because you can turn art into science and Science into art. Kadinsky used plane shapes and angles to create art. What type of Science do you teach to your class?
