Victorian Slum House is a reality show created by the British Broadcasting Company in 2016 to show how people lived in a slum in London during the time from 1860-1900. 

As we continue to migrate from South America to Europe we can learn a little about England here as well as review a few lessons from the social-emotional learning we have been learning in the mornings. 

As you watch this show think about life during this time. How does it compare to your life today? In what ways is your life better? In what ways is it not as good?

Note Taking, Economics and the Bill of Rights

Today we are going to look at note taking as a learning strategy and then apply it to economics and the Bill of Rights. But first lets watch this video on taking notes. Which note taking strategy will you choose to use?

As we watch this video, think about how economics is more than just money. As a student the economy of your time and your attention are much more important. How can you use this to be better able to manage your time and attention better? Maybe a good note taking strategy could help!

Finally, let's look at the First Amendment to the US Constitution. What rights does it guarantee that the federal government, and the states as well, cannot take away from us? How secure do you think these rights are today?

The Tragedy of the Commons in an economic theory that explains how a minority of people can take a common good, such as shared resources, and take more than what is good for everyone. 

We will be looking at this concept and relate it to our classroom and school resources. What are our common resources? How could these resources be abused by us? How can we keep that abuse from happening?
