Pay specific attention on the home page to the Rules for Comments4Kids as well as follow the links on the right of the blog. Tomorrow we will discuss it more.

Then view Mr. Wood's post on 5 Smart Ways to Get Comments4Kids on Your Blog. Then we are going to pick some posts to comment on here. There are 84 blogs that are wanting comments! let's see how many we can leave a comment on.

I want you to make a link list of the posts you comment on. Put them on a blog post on the 8th grade groups. Hyperlink the list to the actual post.

Today is Comments4Kids Day! You will get to choose the blog and the post you wish to comment on. I have created a new site for teachers and students to register their blogs. There are blogs from the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Brazil!

Assignment:
1) Choose four blogs from the list.
2) Leave a comment on four posts.
3) Write a post on the class group about the four blogs you commented on.

Comments4Kids: Tuesday is Workday!

Thanks to the new Comments4Kids site we have several new blogs to visit.

Savvy 7 is a class of Yr 5/6 ( 9,10,11 yr old) children in Wellington New Zealand. Mrs. C (not my wife ;) asks for ideas to use with the class blog. Give her a good one!


Baily Road Team 17 is a blog for Team 17, a Year 6 class at Bailey Road School in Mt Wellington, Auckland, New Zealand. This post is on a team winning a Netball championship. Congratulate the team but don't be afraid to ask how to play if you don't already know.


Learning Together is a prep blog (5-6 year olds) in Melbourne Australia. Watch the Smilebox presentation and read what the students decided they could do to help the environment. Leave them a positive comment.


The Clem Eighth grade Language Arts blog where they post stories and poems. Pick one and read it, then comment.

Comments4Kids: The Kidblog.org Editions

More and more classrooms are using Kidblog.org. Not only has it been adopted quickly, but because it aggregates students posts into one page it makes it very easy to see the posts and comment on them. Today we are going to comment on four different class blogs.

BRS Room 17 Mr. Wood has been a great supporter of Comments4Kids and I often see him leaving comments on many class and student blogs. It is time to repay the favor.

CLG Enrichment is a blog created by Mrs. Guest. Her students have written about the movie Avatar. Read her post here and then leave a comment on a student blog using the guidelines from Mrs. Guest's post.

Grade 6 Computers is a class blog from Japan. The class teacher is Ms. President. This is a first since I haven't found a class blog in Japan before!

Mrs. Kolbert's Class is a blog we have visited before. You may want to revisit a particular student's post or you may want to choose a new student to write a comment on.

Mrs. Dyke's Class is a blog we visited last week. The students are writing first person narratives about World War II. This is the first time I have done back to back weeks with one class blog. Make your comments good!

Today we are going to comment on Mrs. Dykes' Class blog. Her students are writing journal entries pretending to be living during World War II. I hope you remember studying that war. I want you to pick three posts to leave comments on. Make sure you follow the rules:

Podcast Episode 6-Math at Ms. Deyenberg's Class Blog
This class creates podcasts. Listen to this one (you will need headphones) and leave a comment. Is this an effective way to show how to do math? Who would learn the math better, the students that created the podcast or the students that listen to it?

Our first stop today is Sarah's Blog, the Digital Media student of the week. You can check out the cool things she has made in class. (Make sure you watch the Battle of the politicians!!!!)

Next is the Lytton Street Jump Jammers from New Zealand. Check out their creative dancing. and leave a comment. This is like a dancing version of the PS22 blog from two weeks ago!

Mrs. Blystone's 3rd Grade Blog has a daily recorder that explains what happened in school every day. This is a great idea for a blog! Pick a post and leave a comment.

Mrs. Goerend's Students blog has contributed some descriptive essays. Their assignment was:

Students will be posting their descriptive essays on the blog soon. The goal of this assignment was to use word choice that "spices up" their writing and makes you understand the place, thing, or person they're describing with all five senses. Are you able to paint a picture in your mind of what they've described?

Read a few of the stories and leave a comment or two.

On the M9 Daily Diary is a post about a product a couple students created to sell at their school fair. Apparently it is not unusual for students to create and sell products in New Zealand! Leave a comment and tell answer the questions they have asked about the product.

Comments4Kids for November 4

Today you have an unusual opportunity. Public School 22 (PS22) has a very famous student chorus that performs regularly at big events and has been recognized by many famous musicians for their work. The blog has an incredible amount of content showing the students preparing and performing. I want you to spend time exploring the blog and checking out all the content. Then I want you to leave a comment.

Next we are going to Mr. McClung's class blog to leave him another message. This post is on how his students have showed him how much they care.

Next we will be visiting New Zealand again and commenting on two blogs from one school, the Yendarra school. The first post will be by the Yendarra School Pukekos. They have just started blogging and will love your encouragement. The second post has two parts. The first part is to read this post on teachers from the school visiting Samoa. #Comments4Kids Wednesday 10/21

Today we will be visiting some interesting new sites:

Room 25 Online's post on Substitute Teachers is great. Here some of the students left reflections of a substitute's visit to their classroom. Leave a comment giving an experience you had with a sub. Be honest, but don't use the substitute's name if it is a negative comment.

On the blog Fellow Shadow Spider Incy Wincy Theatre there is a video to watch. "This project aims to introduce traditional "Turkish Shadow Puppet Theatre" and teach traditional nursery rhyme "Incy Wincy Spider" to five and six-year-old students at kindergarten." This is a very interesting way to create a movie. You might want to keep this in mind if you are planning on creating a movie for our movie festival this Spring! As usual, leave a positive comment.

You may want to check out At the Fireplace's Do You Know Russian Folk Tales? as well. They used puppets to make a movie. Another good idea for you future movie makers!

On Valley Wood Tech's Welcome to Technology 2.0 post, leave a comment on about one of your favorite on line tools such as a blog, photo site, or even Google documents.
